Many times Sump Pumps are seen as a tool to remove flood water from a basement after a flood has occurred. However, Stormguard Floodplan are pleased to offer a revolutionary new method of flood protection in the form of under floor sump pump which can drastically reduce the damage caused by flood water.
What are Sump Pumps or Flood Pumps?
A sump pump is a pump that we install in the lowest part of a basement of your home. The role of the sump pump is to keep the area under the building dry and to prevent it from flooding (especially in cases of ground water flooding.) The basement flood pumps are installed in specially constructed sump pits that you can see in the image above. Flood water flows into the sump pit through drains or by natural water migration through the soil. The flood pump or sump pump will then automatically pump the water out of the pit and away from the building so the basement of your home remains dry and flood free.

What happens if there is a power failure?

That’s why we are able to install a battery back-up system if required (additional costs may apply), which will kick in automatically if the primary system fails. This is a high tech system designed for long periods of standby use and can pump out over 11,000 gallons of water on a single charge.
The battery is automatically recharged when the power is restored and you can rest assured that your sump pump will be working, even if you are away from home at the time of the flood.
