Protect your home from flooding
with a Flood Pump
Many times Sump Pumps are seen as a tool to remove flood water from a basement after a flood has occurred. However, Stormguard Floodplan are pleased to offer a revolutionary new method of flood protection in the form of under floor sump pump which can drastically reduce the damage caused by flood water.
What are Sump Pumps or Flood Pumps?
A sump pump is a pump that we install in the lowest part of a basement of your home. The role of the sump pump is to keep the area under the building dry and to prevent it from flooding (especially in cases of ground water flooding.) The basement flood pumps are installed in specially constructed sump pits that you can see in the image above. Flood water flows into the sump pit through drains or by natural water migration through the soil. The flood pump or sump pump will then automatically pump the water out of the pit and away from the building so the basement of your home remains dry and flood free.
With the sump pumps we install capable of pumping 2650 gallons of water each and every hour you can rest assured that the risk of your home flooding is greatly reduced when we install one of these flood water pumps at your home.
What happens if there is a power failure?
Often when flooding occurs the flow of electricity to a home can be affected. No matter how efficient your sump pump is it cannot work if it isn’t being powered.
That’s why we are able to install a battery back-up system if required (additional costs may apply), which will kick in automatically if the primary system fails. This is a high tech system designed for long periods of standby use and can pump out over 11,000 gallons of water on a single charge.
The battery is automatically recharged when the power is restored and you can rest assured that your sump pump will be working, even if you are away from home at the time of the flood.
Why choose Stormguard Floodplan to install your basement Pump?
Our professionally installed sump pump has a number of advantages over other installers. Firstly, you can be assured that our sump pump installations are both clean and neat. All too many times we have seen installations that are little more than a hole in the basement. These are highly dangerous as debris (which can clog your sump pump), animals and even children can fall into these holes. These open holes also can promote damp within a basement and cause structural problems throughout a home. We install a fully sealed unit which helps to keep your basement looking clean and neat. It also prevents anything falling into the flood water pump which might restrict it’s function in a flooding situation.
We also ensure that as little space as possible is used by the sump pump. The units we install can bear the weight of a person standing on top of them. We can also install a cover over the top of the unit so that no storage space is lost, as shown in the image.
As you can see the unit is completely unobstructive and blends in naturally with the surroundings of the room. With home-buyers becoming more aware for the need for flood protection in a home our sump pumps are a great way to add value to your home.
