    FAQ

Q: Can I install the barrier internally if I have an outward opening door?

A: Yes. Providing you have a solid brick or concrete wall to attach onto and a solid concrete floor internally then you can of course fit internally (you cannot install internally if the floor is suspended as the water will come from under the void and flood). A good tip for anyone that has plaster/board between where you would like to fit internally and a solid brick/concrete structure, we suggest etching back to the brick/concrete and attach a hardwood post approx. 2’’ x 2’’ (whatever size you feel is needed to bring the post flush from the brick/concrete, to the thickness of the plaster/board, then attach your provided nylon channel to this, the hardwood post ‘’face fixed’’ then creates a recess to fix onto internally.

Q: I haven’t got enough of a recess externally to fit the barrier, how do I overcome this?

A: A good tip for anyone with a small rebate, is to source two hardwood posts, to use at either side of the door opening, approx. 2inch x 2inch, smaller if you want or larger if needed, then attach the nylon channel to this facing inward so that the barrier can be slotted within. Adding the face fixed hardwood posts at each side essentially creates a recess for you to fix the nylon channels onto. Please remember that you can utilise your door sill piece if it has enough of a recess, for the barrier to slot down onto. Providing your nylon channels seal down onto this at each side. You can if you wish fix to the door frame itself at each side, using the same method as above with hardwood posts.

Q: Can I cut the barrier down in width as well as height?

A: Yes of course. You can decrease the overall height as well as the width of the barrier, please just ensure you use a fine-tooth handsaw for a smooth finish, making sure a level square cut is done, any rough edges can be sanded down using any grade of sandpaper.

Q: How does the barrier seal on a concrete floor or door sill piece, if there is no threshold strip?

A: The thickest seal supplied in the kit (20mm) is for the bottom of the barrier, this seal is fixed permanently onto the barrier. Once the barrier is slid into the channels at each side and firmly pushed down into place, a vacuum is created, and the pressure used to push down the barrier ensures the bottom seal finds its own level onto either a door sill piece or concrete step/ground below, ensuring a watertight seal is created between the seal and the ground/sill below.
